How it works
- Choose the exam and the document: photograph, signature, thumb impression or declaration.
- Drop your scan or photo. For photos, a framing box opens in the right shape for the form; drag it over your face and shoulders.
- The tool resizes to the pixel size, sets the DPI where the rule gives one, and searches for a JPEG quality that lands inside the KB range.
- Check the result card. It says whether the file fits the rule, then download it.
Every preset was run on a synthetic portrait and a synthetic signature scan when this page was built, and 13 of the 13 results landed inside their ranges.

Photo presets used a 1200 x 1500 synthetic portrait and the others a 1200 x 450 synthetic signature scan, both made by this project. Sizes are checked against the maximum in 1000-byte KB and the minimum in 1024-byte KB, so the file passes either way a portal counts. Padding means the picture was smaller than the minimum and blank bytes were added inside the file. Timings: one thread of WebAssembly on Node v22.23.4, Intel(R) Xeon(R) Processor @ 2.10GHz, 2 cores, measured 2026-10-31. Other devices will differ.
The presets and their sources
- IBPS and SBI: photograph at 200 x 230 pixels, 20 to 50 KB; signature at 140 x 60 pixels, 10 to 20 KB; left thumb impression at 240 x 240 pixels and 200 DPI, 20 to 50 KB; handwritten declaration at 800 x 400 pixels and 200 DPI, 50 to 100 KB.
- UPSC: photograph at 350 x 450 pixels, 20 to 200 KB; signature (three in one image) at 400 x 500 pixels, 20 to 100 KB.
- SSC: signature at 315 x 157 pixels and 200 DPI, 10 to 20 KB. SSC takes your photograph live with the camera while you fill in the form, so there is no photo file to prepare.
- NEET UG: passport size photo at 413 x 531 pixels and 300 DPI, 10 to 200 KB; postcard size photo at 1200 x 1800 pixels and 300 DPI, 10 to 200 KB; signature at up to 600 pixels on the long side, 10 to 50 KB; finger and thumb impressions at up to 1000 pixels on the long side, 10 to 200 KB.
- JEE Main: photograph at 413 x 531 pixels and 300 DPI, 10 to 200 KB; signature at up to 600 pixels on the long side, 10 to 30 KB.
In the tool, each preset links to the page it came from and shows the date it was checked. Notifications change from year to year, so read yours and compare. Where two sources gave different ranges, the preset uses the part both allow. For any other exam, choose Other exam and type the numbers from your notification.
When a file comes out too small
Signatures are mostly white paper, so they compress very well. A 140 x 60 pixel signature can fall below the 10 KB minimum even at the highest JPEG quality. When that happens, the tool adds blank padding inside the file until it reaches the minimum. The picture is unchanged, and the file still opens everywhere. In the test run, 4 of the 13 presets needed padding.
Kilobytes, counted both ways
Some portals count 1 KB as 1000 bytes and others as 1024. The tool keeps the file under the maximum counted in 1000-byte units and above the minimum counted in 1024-byte units, so it passes either way.
Scanning tips
- Sign in black ink on plain white paper, then crop close around the signature.
- Photograph the paper flat, in daylight, with no shadow from your phone.
- Use a recent photo against a plain white or light background, looking straight at the camera.
- If the form wants your name and the date on the photo, add them before you scan.
Questions
Is this tool connected to IBPS, UPSC, SSC or NTA?
No. The presets come from published rules and summaries of them, linked on the page. Always check your own notification.
What if my exam is not listed?
Choose Other exam and enter the KB range, the pixel size and the DPI from your notification.
Why is the result a JPG?
Every form covered here asks for JPG or JPEG, and it is the format portals check for.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The resizing runs in your browser and the file stays on your device.
